Just Updates!

I know I have not been updating the blog for quite some time. It is just because, I am always feeling very tired and whenever I get free time for myself; I am finding coziness just by sleeping. Papa-to-be is busy with his office work and off course house work too, so that explains why he has not been blogging since his very first post.

I am gaining weight gradually and that makes me really worried. Also I am feeling more home-sick and talking to my grand ma and other relatives for longer time, until they get bored. To add this, my dad mom and sister are going to India for one month.

Singapore Flyer

Last Saturday, 20th we went to Singapore flyer. We booked our flight at 7pm and reached there around 6:20pm. On our way to the flyer we also the preparations for Singapore’s Formula 1 night race. We two were excited, and boarded the capsule at 7:15pm. The thrill came in, when we reached the highest altitude, where we get a bird’s eye view of Singapore.

Eshwar suggested that we should go one more time and book our flight in the morning or afternoon hours, so that we can get the different view in the daylight. We also had a chance to get in to the lanes of formula 1 as it was nearby. Other than excitement and fun, we took loads of pictures and only some pictures turned out to be nice.

Flu Flew Away

I am down with flu for the past four days. Adding to it, I was vomiting out everything from Monday to Wednesday morning. I hope I can get well soon, because my mom has arranged for a mini gathering for our relatives and her friends this Sunday.

Vinayaga Chathurti

Today we celebrated our first vinayaga chathurti. We were really excited. First to start off with, we cleaned our home and washed the kitchen. Then Eshwar went to buy our pillaiyar and necessary things for the prayers and the foods.

We wake up early at as 5am and started to cook by 5:45am. While I was preparing sundal (a savory dish, made out of channa dhal) Eshwar helped me break the jaggary (rock sugar) into small pieces. Then we prepared kolukkatai of two varieties. One filling with grated coconut and jaggary (thenkai puranam) and another filling with sesame (Ellu kolukkatai). Both turned out really superb and we finished off everything in the morning. Also we prepared rice, rasam and potato for our lunch. We finished our prayers by 8 am and had our breakfast (kolukkatai, sundal and chocolate milk) and started to work around 8:30am.

To all those celebrating vinayaga chathurti, Eshwar and I wishing you all a very happy Vinayaga Chathurti.

Creative Zen

Today I received a creative Zen mp4 player and a book as a souvenir, as my organization is celebrating its 60th year. Since I already have an mp3 player, which was also bought recently, I was thinking I should give it to someone in my family. I am still choosing whether I should give or keep it myself. As it has a logo of my organization on it. For the book I am sure that I want to keep it.

Active Weekend

I had been mentioning about the Wall-E movie I would be going out with my family in the past few entries. And last Saturday we went for the movie. Initially, my sister said she can’t make it, because her teacher has asked her to join national level chess competition at the last minute. So she was saying, I will try her best to make it for the movie. And she did come for the movie, as well as won the competition by coming in 2nd. We are so proud of her.

I can still remember the first time I played chess with my sister and taught her what is what and how to make moves. Most of the time, it would be my dad and my sister will pair up and I would be the only one playing against them. Now it is the other way round, I and my dad would pair up and try to defeat my sister. But still she will be the one taking our king out of the board. I am really happy for. Go on my little (big) sister.

Coming back to the movie, we reached the theater around 7:30pm. And the movie started about 7:40pm. Since we were rushing to catch the movie, we almost forgot to buy popcorns and snacks. Honestly speaking, movie without popcorns are not worth watching in theaters. So mom and I went out to buy popcorns (sweet and salt), hotdogs, nachos and cheese for the family. Eshwar, my dad and my sister did not follow us to buy the snacks because; they don’t want to miss the first scene of the movie. Since I brought them for the movie it was my entire treat.

The movie was really nice and everyone enjoyed it. The concept of robots falling in love was really interesting. The movie ended at 9:20pm. And Eshwar and I reached home around 10:30pm. We had our dinner and watched another Tamil movie as it was Saturday night.

The following morning, we wake up early at 6 am and got ready for the charity walk organized by my company. We had a lot of fun and there was a carnival too. Oh yeah, I can even bring my relatives to my work station, so I called my dad and mom, but they can’t make it as they went out to market. So I bought in my husband and showed him around and took pictures. In the carnival, we played only one game, as my hubby said all the other games looked so childish and he don’t want to try those games. So we just played one game, where we are supposed to throw a ball into three rings, which are lined crooked. Eshwar tried first and after three tries he still did not have that ball to the rings. As for me, I got it first time and missed the next two tries. So still in the end, I won a prize. I was so happy. Anyway I gave that gift (a packet of twisters (chips)) to my hubby, as he was acting cute and trying to create a scene over there, since he did not win.

Later the day, we went to my mom’s home and had our dinner there. We reached home around 9am and we did some arranging of things and some household chores. By the time we finished our work it was 12am and Eshwar said, he needs to work, as he will be having meeting the following day. I slept around 12:30am. As for Eshwar, he dosed off at 2am.

Updates!!

I was bit busy last week and ended up having sharp pains in my stomach and giddiness. As a result, I took leave on Monday. I thought I would feel better after some rest so I did not went to see doctor. But it became even worst the following day with more morning sickness. So I decided to go and see doctor (GP). There she gave me a shock saying that she could not hear my baby’s heart beat using stethoscope. And she gave me two days MC, and advised me to see my gyne as soon as possible. Initially I was worried, but after talking to my gyne over phone, I was relived. She said some GP’s can’t really hear baby’s heart beat through stethoscope, and more over it would be heard clear from the start of 8 months.

Anyway, I bought forward my gyne appointment from 30th of August to 27th of August. My mom accompanied me to see my gyne. I had my blood test and check for down syndrome too. Most of all the highlight of our visit was we knew the gender of my baby. I am really happy that I got what I wished for. But the doctor said its only 80% accurate. And she will confirm it by my following visit, which is scheduled on 27th October.

Eshwar is busy too. He was too busy for the past two weeks and today he is partying. His reports were closed and his company is hosting a party today. I guess he is having good time there. As for me, I am attached to a new team and I should learn new stuffs. Also this weekend going to be an exciting weekend, as there is movie outing on Saturday (with my whole family) and carnival cum charity walk on Sunday.

For all those who are waiting patiently to know the gender of our baby, here it is…

Eshwar and I would be expecting a sweet little princess.

Movie – Wall E

I managed to get the tickets for family and myself for the Disney movie Wall-E. I bought the tickets from my office, as they are organizing movie night for the staff and family. I am quite excited; as this is my first time I would be bringing my whole family for an event like this. What more I can say, the tickets are half priced.

I am looking forward for 30th of August, as I having my gyne appointment (I am hoping that my doctor can see the gender of our little one) and blood tests. I guess Eshwar should also be going through some blood test, as this is our first baby. I can’t wait to see how he is going to react to those needles. Last time he had his blood test, he was so tensed and scared. My mom is excited to know the gender of the baby, as she advised me to stay until I know the gender. And she trying to give me hints, that she loves to see a boy in our family.

The movie event is on night of 30 August. The following morning, there is a Charity Walk conducted by my corporation too. I signed up for this event too. Because of me, Eshwar also joined the event. Anyway, my corporation is conducting all this because it is the 60th year of celebration. There is also a carnival on the same day of the charity walk. The following Monday is my company day. So I can say that, it is a more relaxed day as there are many activities planned.

Tiring Weekends

We were shifting our furniture’s and things last weekend, and it’s almost done. Saturday Eshwar and I went to our new house and did the cleaning. Actually, we were just there sitting ideal. We booked a maid and she did all the cleaning.

We planned to shift our things on Sunday morning around 10+ Am. But the van driver had some other important work that he made it only around 6:45pm. Eshwar managed all the shifting, while I and our little one take rest at mom’s home.

Although I never did a single work, I felt really tired. Moreover I am losing weight. Today I weighed myself as 66.2kg. I have lost 1 kg and it is worrying me. My mom said, I should be gaining some weight now, rather than shedding off. She also suggested that, I should go for a scan to check the growth of our little one. My next appointment with the doctor is on the 30th of August and now I am thinking of re-scheduling it.

Days are moving at really fast, that I have completed my four months of pregnancy today. Five more months to go and we can see our little one. I am so excited.

Eshwar has been telling bed time stories for our little one. All the stories he narrates, he will end with a comedy touch. Ended up, I will be laughing to my heart’s content.

Yesterday, my mom invited us for dinner. She prepared chicken masala, rice, rasam, chapatti and potato fry. I was very hungry that I almost ate two times. Even still, I was felt I need one more servings of fruits. So I had an apple and my calcium dose and dozed off with a gulp of H20.

Today, when I wake up, I had a strong craving for tea. (The tea which my hubby prepares with a bit of ginger and lots of love) But he could make me the tea as we wake up very late, that we have to rush to work. He promised me that he will he will prepare me the drink latest by tonight.

Holiday for Eshwar

Eshwar got one day of leave on Monday. Sincerely, I should be the one deserving that leave. He got one day off because National Day of Singapore happen to fall on Saturday and they can’t add the leave to annual leave. While for me, I can claim one day off, provided if I claim it for month of August. I want to take leave on 20th of august too (because of house-warming), so I just went to work as per normal on Monday.

As for Eshwar, he followed me to my work place, and he sat in MC-Donald’s. He passed his time by reading newspaper, drinking loads of tea, and doing some off his work using his laptop.

Eshwar happened to join my colleagues for lunch (for the first time) and had noodles, rice and ginger chicken. After lunch, we wandered around the mall and I asked him, whether I can eat Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream. With his green signal (under a condition, buy one ice-cream that too his favorite flavour) I managed to get that ice-cream in my tummy.

After lunch, he continued his work. Around 4pm+ I meet him for evening tea and snacks. We had it in my company canteen. I finished my work around 6pm+ and we two went to have our early dinner at Sankunthala’s Restaurant. After that, we also ordered our washing machine and fridge (finally those electronic and electrical goods on my list to buy were stroked off).

Shopping!!

We planned our Saturday to shop for furniture’s and electronic gods for our new home. My mom also joined us and we went to IKEA and Courts. As I was checking off item by item from my to-buy-list, we realized that, there are no Electronic goods in IKEA.

I was asked not to push the trolley and sit in a place, so that Eshwar and my mom will do all the shopping. I just can’t stop my legs from moving around, even though I felt really tired.

We had our lunch at IKEA. Our menu was Teriyaki Chicken & rice meal and chicken wings. Actually we liked the fried chicken wings and finished it fully, as for the Teriyaki Chicken meal; mom and I left the chicken and finished off the rice.

Our evening snacks were hotdog buns and curry puffs. To follow we had strawberry milk for me, tea and coffee for Eshwar and mom. Eshwar did not take hot dog bugs, since he has something against sausages.

Except for electronic goods we bought all those furniture’s we need from IKEA. It was already dusk and everyone was running out of fuel. So we get home by taxi.

No appetite and vomiting continue. All I want now is just rest. Even though I don’t walk much and never do single houses work, I feel exhausted. For every meal of the day, I just don’t know what to eat. Even though I have a wide variety of food to choose by, I just don’t want to eat. What is happening to me?

Today I vomited as usual in the morning, and I did throw up on my way to work. I just had water and banana before I started to work and I throw that out. Whenever I vomit, I can assure that Eshwar is there to take good care of me (and the little one inside). He has also become tolerant of all my senseless interpretations and craps.

Yesterday I visited my mom’s house for dinner. She cooked my favourite dishes and I had it till my stomach was full. I did buy durian puffs from polar cakes. It was Eshwar and Dad who loved the puffs. My sister had only puff and she said she liked the taste, but she did not like the breath of it. My mom and myself just them eating (We both are not that adventurous, when it comes to food).

Oh yeah before I forget, I signed myself and Eshwar in the charity walk conducted by my office. It’s a walk about 4.8km. Since it falls on Sunday, and we would be both free, I thought it would be a great morning brisk walk for the two of us (or should I say three of us). Eshwar first asked me not to sign up, but with my pestering, he agreed on a condition, that if I could walk, we would take cab back to the end point. It sounded a great deal for me, as I always wanted to go for this kind of walks.

Pas d'appétit

I learned from books and internet source that, second trimester is the time to enjoy the pregnancy. They also claim that, by now my vomiting should have stopped and have a bon appétit.

I guess for me this is not true. I actually enjoyed first trimester, with all those one whole month of hospitalization leave and occasional morning sickness. Now that I have stepped in to my second trimester, my morning sickness is getting to its show its worst face. I am vomiting every morning without fail.

Although I do take rest most of the time, I still feel tired.

Train Journey

On 2nd of August (which was on Saturday), Eshwar and I planned to go shopping in Jurong East IMM. We boarded the train and it was quit empty I should say. We both got our comfortable seats and started browsing the magazines we had. After four to five stops I complained that I had a feeling to vomit. Since everyone morning, I complain and never vomit, we thought that it’s just because of too much air-con in the train.

The place we need to get down just five stops a way and that’s when all the drama happened.

Before I was about to vomit, I had a severe headache and all I knew was I vomited three times inside the train. In between all these, my husband was too panicked and he was just in the state of confusion as me. When the next station arrived, we got down and informed the Station Control.

They were so kind to us, let us take some rest and clean ourselves and even gave us souvenir. When they handed me the souvenir, I just could not stop laughing because, here I vomited and they are giving souvenir.

This was a great experience for both of us. And taught us a lesson that, we should carry some plastic bags with us all the time.

Frendz

Oh! Today my friend Hera will be rolling off to a different customer site. Will be missing you gal friend.

Going to India

Eshwar and I have planned to go to India during the month of October. To be exact we are flying from Singapore on 18th of October (at night) and we will reach Chennai on the same night. We have bought our tickets and now I am counting down for the day.

This trip of ours is quite special because, it’s the time of Diwali (festival of lights), my last sister-in-law would have been given birth (so we can see Harish’s thambi/thangachi), and most of all, my family members are planning to have valaikappu function (baby shower) for me. Although our trip is scheduled for only two weeks or so, I am very much excited to see all my relatives.

We bought all our tickets very early because, by the time I am flying, I would be 6 months and will be starting my 7th month. So Eshwar was very particular to buy the tickets and book our seats near the emergency exit (so that I can stretch my legs) and also near the washroom. He even bought our tickets for our train (from Chennai to Trichy and the return tickets (in AC coach). I am amazed to see how an unborn baby has changed the papa-to-be so responsible.

Shopping Spree

Oh yeah! As promised by Eshwar, I got my handbag on Saturday. After our visit to doctor, Eshwar, Dad and Myself were hungry. Actually dad had had breakfast, but he complained to me that, mom prepared Chinese noodles with Indian masala and he did not like it. We all had Clay pot Chicken Rice and I was quite full by then. Then we let dad roam in the malls, because if he sticks with us he will never let us shopping. As for Eshwar, He is very patient; he will never complain. While dad was away, I bought my new handbag and got one bag for papa-to-be too. Mom wanted to by sandals for herself, but whatever sandals she laid her hands on cost a bomb. Then she said, she wanted to go Mustafa Center to buy hot water bags for herself. Now we decided that, we would better send dad to home, otherwise he will nagging all the way. So we called dad and asked him where he was, we found out that, he was eating ice-cream. Caught him red-handed. (Hahahaha… we gave him the house key and send him off to the train)

We took taxi to Mustafa center, did some shopping and ate at Murugan Idly Kadai. Then we started shopping again, by now I was so tired that I could barley lift up my leg, so we just took a taxi back home and reached 5:30pm.

I was happy for two things, because I got my new handbag and tasted my degree coffee (I am not allowed to drink coffee, because of the caffeine content in it)

I completed my 13 weeks of pregnancy on July 26th; coincidently it today is my visit to my obstetrician. I was so excited that I almost never sleep. But Eshwaran on the other hand, had a good sleep and wake up at 10am. I got up by 8am and got ready by 9:30am. After all my naggings, He went to take bath, and came out only at 10:45am. We had our doctor appointment at 11:30am. Although the hospital is just six train stations away, it will take us about half an hour to reach there. (Mainly, because my speed of walking has become very slow) Dad and Mom reached before us and they were waiting for us at the station control.

During my last visit, I was advised that I am a bit over-weight. Now I have lost 1.1 kg and I was very happy. The doctor asked me to maintain the same weight from now on. All my routine check-up was normal and we saw the doctor around 12:05pm. With only one apple for my breakfast, I felt very tired during the scan. Moreover, we can’t see our little one clearly, as there was something wrong with the monitor. But the doctor can see and she said everything is normal. We also checked for Down syndrome, and the doctor said it’s a normal baby and we no need to worry. J

Dad was pretty amazed to hear the heart beats of baby. Eshwar got everything recorded, and all I can see was that the monitor when he played back to me. (He forgot that, there is a function called ZOOM!!)

Now mom was asking can we know the gender of the baby today. The doctor said yes it’s possible but they need to perform a vaginal scan. Mom was so eager to know the gender that she persuaded me to have that scan. In the end, my doctor suggested, since I am very nervous she will not do the vaginal scan. I was relieved by her words.

This time, our doctor prescribed me Iron, Omega 3 Fatty acids and Calcium tables. And one more advice she gave me was not to read all the more books on pregnancy, because it would really make me more nervous.

My next visit has been scheduled on August 30. I need to go through my blood test and one more down syndrome test (just to double confirm) not to forget my vaccinations.

Lunch Meeting

I feel like I am princess. Whatever I ask comes to me immediately. Despite its Friday today, I asked my hubby for chicken biriyani for lunch (For those, who don’t know, most Hindu’s eat only vegetarian food on Fridays, because it is considered as an auspicious day). Without saying a word, he asked me to come to Little India road to enjoy our food. One of the good things about my work place location is that, I can reach Little India within 7 to 10 minutes by bus. And my husband work place is also located near Little India. Today I tried Biriyani from a new stall and it was so… good, that it almost tasted as Vaniyambadi biriyani and bought back memories of my grand ma, grand pa, uncle and aunt. (For those who don’t know here is a bit history about Vaniyambadi. My home town in India is Vaniyambadi and it is famous for its biriyani). Now that, I am back in my office, I am thinking of what question should I ask my doctor, during the visit. Also Papa-to-be is very excited to see the baby and he said, he is going to take video’s of baby (I hope the doctor allows to take video and record the sound of baby heart beat). He even prepared a list of questions to ask doctor.

My Mom and Dad are also following us for the check-up. For dad, this is his first time to follow us. As for my mom, it’s her second time.

Eshwar and myself had planned to go shopping after the checkup. Since the hospital is at Orchard Road and just opposite to Takashimaya mall.

As for now, I am just waiting for 5:30pm, because Eshwar agreed to buy for me the handbag I was longing for months before I got pregnant.

Frustration!

Yesterday, while we are going back to home after our dinner, I got irritated and the experienced the worst journey through out. First to start with, the train was crowded, but not too crowded. When we boarded the train I saw one empty seat and my legs walked towards it. When I was about to be seated, a big sized lady pushed me away and snatched the seat from me. And she did not just stopped, she continued by stepping on my little feet. I got frustrated, because she does not even said a simple sorry. Second, there was one guy, in his middle 30’s I guess was sitting in the seat especially reserved for pregnant and old passengers. He did not even see me; he just acted as if he is in his dream lala land. Third, I saw a lady with full of dandruff. When I complained to my hubby about all this, He was just consoling me by saying, please don’t say this and that and don’t complain. Because, in his theory, He thinks the baby will be influenced by my thoughts of complaining. In the end, I managed to get a seat, guess what; I got a seat beside the lady who had dandruffs all over her head. Yeah! I forgot to mention, I got a seat only to the end of my journey. When our stop came, remember guys, I mentioned a man who was acting as if he was asleep, yup! That guy just wakes up and rushed out the train buy pushing everyone.

Why am I always meeting these weirdo people?

Now I want my tummy to grow just bigger, so that they can offer me a seat.

When I heard from my hubby that, he wants to start a blog for us to post entries about our parent-to-be journey, my immediate reply was can I wow! That’s a great idea.

I was browsing some poem websites and came across this wonderful sentence. I thought it would be a good inspiration for me. Here it goes,

To my little one inside,

There is only a wall of skin that now stands between you and me. From behind this wall that helps keep you cosy and snug, I feel every twitch and kick of yours kindle my maternal instincts. Making me almost wonder if this is what they mean by 'butterflies in my stomach'. I enjoy your little somersaults that take me by surprise every now and then; that you do just to let me know it’s time for food. I'm in no hurry to see you; I know I will when time is ripe. All I want is to enjoy these moments (rather months) few when they are here right now with me.

My First Post

This is my first blog and I am very much excited about it. Here is a short profile of me or should I say we? I created this blog to post all about my lovely wife's beautiful journey, that she is experiencing now. Not to forget, I will blog about the dad-to-be (which is me).
